Information

Myeongjisan (Mt.) stands 1,267m above sea level and is the second highest mountain in Gyeonggi-do. There has been a steady rise in the hiking population, and now over 100,000 hikers visit the mountain every year. It boasts magnificent scenery where valley waterfalls and forests come together. In particular, when autumn comes hikers can enjoy the beautiful color-changing leaves together with old trees and fantastic rocks and stones, while it also is home to great sceneries such as Myeongji Waterfall and Yongso. Together with Cheonggyesan (Mt.), Myeongjisan (Mt.) was designated as the sixth ecology/scenery preservation area in the country, and it has the most abundant insect life following Hallsan (Mt.) and Jirisan (Mt.). In order to provide an opportunity to make ecological examinations and nature studies, while increasing awareness for preserving the natural environment, an [Ecology Examination Learning Center] was opened at the entrance to Myeongjisan Park to provide visitors with the chance to experience the ecology through nature study centers for medical botany, rare plant life and wild flowers, as well as caves, insect videos, plant, insect and fish exhibits. Lodging can be found at neighboring at Ikgeun-dong or Mok-dong.
